Giving Back to the Community

Stephanie, Jessica, and the whole Procyon Team know that Procyon Training doesn’t exist without the community they serve. To say thanks, we offer our training services to local rescues at discounted rates and when possible, at no cost at all.

Kayla Ann

Kayla Ann is a Rottweiler that was rescued from a hoarding case by Animal Services. She was emaciated and was missing most of the hair from her mid back to the base of her tail. When members of OHAR (Open Hands Animal Rescue) in Ocala, Florida, saw her, they pulled her as soon they could to help her find her forever home. While she waits for her potential adopter to heal from surgery, we offered to take her into our home and our training program so she could begin to heal. At our house, Kayla Ann is thriving. She is putting on weight, engaging with dogs and cats and her daily walks were initial out to the mailbox and back and now she wants to go further and further each day.

Zero

Zero is a deaf Dachshund /Jack Russel Terrier Mix. He is part of W.A.G.S, another rescue in Ocala, Florida. Zero is participating in our board and train program. Because Zero is Deaf, he has proven to be a challenge for his first owner, but not for us. We have trained several deaf dogs over the years and we personally own two deaf dogs (both are Heelers). One of the deafies is trained to do Peanut Detection Work so when we meet with clients, we can show them what a Food Allergen Detection Dog looks like. Since we have so much experience with Deaf Dogs, Zero has come to us so we can teach her some basic obedience. We will also meet with her new family to teach them everything she knows so they have a good start together.
